Shining a spotlight on inclusion in broadcasting

Meaningful inclusion will happen when fair representation exists throughout the whole creative and production process.

Kim Tserkezie

With over 25 years of industry experience, Kim founded Scattered Pictures in 2011 as a result of her frustration at the industry’s lack of inclusivity; having first hand experience, as a disabled actor, frequently being offered roles that embodied stereotypical portrayals of disability and ‘medical problems’, rather than meaningful ‘characters’.

Since 2011, Scattered Pictures, based in Kim’s home city of Newcastle Upon Tyne, has developed projects which focus on underrepresented talent and perspectives; shining a light on the true meaning of inclusion.

Our Ethos

INCLUSION OF INDUSTRY AND AUDIENCE

Scattered Pictures is committed to creating and promoting inclusive content that does not just champion underrepresented talent in our industry, but also underrepresented audiences. We believe it is important that our audiences feel seen, heard and supported by our productions, as well as entertained.

AUTHENTICITY

We recognise that whatever our background, we all have a unique voice and story to tell, but we haven’t all had equal opportunities to create, write, develop and produce those stories. We are mindful that each of our unique projects need nurtured in a way particular to that project and the requirements of the team behind it. We strive to bring authentic process and storytelling to the forefront of broadcasting.

COLLABORATION

Collaboration is at the heart of all of our work. We love to team up with individuals, companies and commissioners who share our ethos. We are also thankful that through our collaborators we are given so many opportunities to continue to learn and grow.
